Phoenix towing costs and who to call

Three Phoenix companies publish their own rates and phones. The numbers below are copied from those pages, not averaged and not guessed. TowSheet does not send a truck. Call more than one company, get the all-in price, and ask where the car is going before you authorize a hook.

Published rate structures

These are the structures each company printed on its own site. If two figures on the same page disagree, both are shown. We do not invent a blended number.

Freeway Towing & Storage

Published structure: $95 hook + $6 per loaded mile + 15% fuel surcharge on hook + miles[1][2]. Same 2026 guide also prints a “typical” local ≤5 mile range of $85–$125[1] and a 5-mile worked example of $144 ($95 + 5 × $6 = $125, then 15% fuel)[1][2].

After-hours: They say no extra for nights, weekends, or holidays[1][2].

Their published rate and calculator examples.

ZK Towing LLC

Published structure: Local 5–10 miles $75–$125; 10–25 miles $125–$250; 25+ miles $250+; heavy-duty starting $250; winch/recovery $75–$150[4].

After-hours: Their price page says off-hours (night, weekend, holiday) may come with additional fees. They also say they run 24/7[4].

They label these as estimates[4].

On Time Emergency Roadside And Battery Service LLC

Published structure: Their hook $65–$95. A 10-mile scenario at $5/mile totaling $115–$145[7].

After-hours: They say they quote the full price before dispatch. They also write that many Phoenix companies add $25–$100 after-hours — that is their claim about other companies, not a TowSheet figure[7].

Their 9 Jul 2026 article[7].

towingcosts.com Phoenix page

Published structure: $85–$160 local within 10 miles; $85 base + about $4 per mile[9].

After-hours: +45%[9].

Aggregator page. Not a verified local quote from a named Phoenix operator.

Freeway’s own page disagrees with itself on a 5-mile local tow

The February 2026 guide publishes both a “typical” local (≤5 mile) band of $85–$125 and a 5-mile worked example of $144 after the 15% fuel surcharge[1]. The calculator page restates $95 + $6/mile + 15% fuel and lists 5 miles at $144[2]. $144 is not inside $85–$125. TowSheet does not average those figures. Ask Freeway which number applies to your trip before the truck rolls.

What a bill is made of

A roadside tow is usually not one flat number. Ask for each line before dispatch.

  • Hook (or base) fee. What they charge to send the truck and pick up the vehicle. Published hooks on this page: Freeway $95[1][2]; On Time $65–$95[7]; aggregator page $85[9]. ZK publishes distance bands instead of a separate hook[4].
  • Loaded mile. Miles the car travels on the truck, not empty miles to reach you unless they say otherwise. Published: Freeway $6/loaded mile[1][2]; On Time’s 10-mile example uses $5/mile[7]; aggregator page about $4/mile[9].
  • Fuel or other surcharges. Freeway adds 15% fuel on hook + loaded miles[1][2]. The others on this page do not publish a matching fuel line.
  • After-hours. The three operator pages do not agree. Freeway says none[1][2]. ZK says extra fees may apply[4]. On Time says many Phoenix companies add $25–$100[7]. The aggregator page says +45%[9]. Ask the company you are calling.
  • Storage. If the car goes to a lot instead of a shop or your driveway, daily storage can start after the drop. On Time flags this on their cost page[7]. We do not have a sourced Phoenix storage dollar figure from these three operators, so we do not print one.

Freeway, local lot, or shop

Phoenix is spread along I-10, I-17, Loop 101, Loop 202, and US-60. A “local” tow on the phone may still be a long loaded-mile bill if the drop is across the Valley. Before you say yes:

  • Where is the car going — your shop, your house, or their lot?
  • Who chose that destination — you, or the driver?
  • Does storage start tonight if it sits on their lot?
  • If you have AAA or insurance roadside, read the mileage cap. On Time’s July 2026 article says many of those plans cap towing at five to ten miles per incident, and a Mesa-to-Glendale trip can blow past that[7]. That is their warning, not a TowSheet cap. We do not invent a mileage limit.

If a Department of Public Safety trooper calls a truck on an Arizona state highway, that runs through the DPS Tow Service Program. Under ARS 41-1830.51, DPS uses Tow Service Agreements (TSA) with contracted firms[10]. If you are calling a company yourself, you still choose the destination and the quote.

Who to call

Phones below are taken from each company’s own site. These three are seed listings so the Phoenix page is usable. They are listed, not a paid Featured listing. No Featured or Priority badge until there is a contract. TowSheet does not dispatch and does not endorse a truck.

Ask this before dispatch

  1. What is the hook fee?
  2. What is the per-loaded-mile rate, and from where to where?
  3. Any after-hours, weekend, holiday, or fuel surcharge?
  4. Where is the car going?
  5. If it goes to a lot, what is storage and when does it start?
  6. Does my AAA or insurance roadside cap the miles? [7]

Summer heat in Phoenix is a common reason cars stop. We do not attach a temperature, battery-life, or crash number — we do not have a sourced figure we are willing to print as ours.

TowSheet sells placement on this city page. Free listings show name, city, and service area — not a phone. Paid listings show a phone and move up the page. We match National Tow Connect’s public Featured ($99/month) and Priority ($199/month) prices as of 30 Aug 2026[11]. We do not copy their brand, copy, or layout.

First month of Featured or Priority is a Stripe Payment Link (opens in a new tab). The email form does not charge you. Free listings never go to Stripe.

LocalTowing.us (Aug 2026) also publishes a per-lead menu: $3 roadside, $5 local tow, $7 flatbed, $9 long-distance, $10 heavy, claimed as pay-only-if-taken[12]. TowSheet does not sell per-lead on this page. We have no lead inbox. The only offers here are Free, Featured $99/month, and Priority $199/month.

FAQ

How much is a local tow in Phoenix?

It depends on who you call, and those sources do not agree. Freeway’s calculator math for 5 loaded miles is $144 after 15% fuel[1][2], while the same guide also prints $85–$125 for local ≤5 miles[1]. ZK’s estimate for 5–10 miles is $75–$125[4]. On Time’s 10-mile example is $115–$145[7]. An aggregator page states $85–$160 within 10 miles[9]. Get a quote for your pickup and drop. Do not use a midpoint.

Do companies charge extra at night?

Not all of them say the same thing. Freeway says no night, weekend, or holiday extra[1][2]. ZK says those hours may add fees[4]. On Time says many Phoenix companies add $25–$100[7]. towingcosts.com prints +45%[9]. Ask the company on the phone.

Will AAA or insurance cover the whole tow?

Maybe not. On Time writes that many roadside plans cap towing at five to ten miles per incident, and Valley distances often exceed that[7]. Read your card. We do not invent a cap.

Who regulates freeway tows in Arizona?

Arizona DPS runs a Tow Service Program. ARS 41-1830.51 lets the Director contract with towing firms. DPS uses Tow Service Agreements (TSA)[10]. If you are calling privately, you are not stuck with the trooper’s contractor.

How do I list my tow company here?

Free (name, city, service area, no phone), Featured $99/month (badge, phone, priority on this page), or Priority $199/month (#1 slot, premium badge). Those two paid prices match National Tow Connect’s public pricing as of 30 Aug 2026[11]. Use the listing form. No charge until you confirm.

Does TowSheet sell leads?

Not on this page. LocalTowing.us publishes per-lead prices of $3 roadside / $5 local tow / $7 flatbed / $9 long-distance / $10 heavy, claimed as pay-only-if-taken[12]. That is their product. We only sell Free / $99 Featured / $199 Priority until we have a lead inbox.
